Burlington, NC | The Burlington Police Department received a call on January 22 about a missing adult, Donna Gibson, who may be in Burlington or surrounding areas.
 
Donna Carroll Gibson, a 63-year-old female, was last seen in Burlington around January 8, 2024, and is known to frequent the area of N. Ireland Street.
 
Gibson is approximately 5’3” with an average build. She has blue eyes and brown hair. Gibson’s clothing description is unknown. She was last seen around N Ireland Street and N Broad St. Her direction and method of travel are unknown.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024 at approximately 4:55pm, Auntrelle Tyrelle Royster, 16 years old, was reported missing from 208 Goodson Avenue, Gibsonville, NC 27249.  He was last seen on foot in the Gibsonville area of Burlington Avenue.  He was last seen wearing a gray hoody, gray shorts, black socks, and white Nike slides.

Burlington, NC | On January 31st, 2024, at 4:52 am, officers responded to the Westwood Forest Mobile Home Park located at 1717 Durham Street regarding a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and found evidence of a shooting but no victims. A short time later, the department received additional information that the multiple victims were driving themselves to the local hospital. Officers located a crashed vehicle on Huffman Mill Road that was transporting two male victims, ages 23 and 24, each suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victims were transported to a local hospital and both are listed in stable condition.

 

There is no other information available at this time, as our Criminal Investigations Division is in the early stages of the investigation. More information will be forthcoming.

On Sunday morning, January 28, 2024 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Deputies responded to a call of suspicious activity in the 3500 block of McArthur Ln., Elon, N.C. Elon Police were called to assist Deputies.
 
Elon Officers arrived on scene ahead of Deputies. Elon attempted to stop a red Toyota Corolla matching the description given by the reporting party. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee. The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Routh Rd. and Durham St. Ext. The four occupants fled on foot into a wooded area near the Haw River.
 
One suspect, identified as Eddie Rogers was located near the crash site and arrested. Three other suspects, Antwain Demar McDaniel b/m/19, Ke’Monte Jikelin Crosby b/m/19, and a juvenile were not located.
 
Antwain Demar McDaniel was deemed missing near the Haw River which is in the area of the crash site. Detectives believe that Mr. Crosby and the Juvenile returned home or with a friend or relative.
 
On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, searchers located the body of Mr. McDaniel in Travis Creek near Durham Street Extension.

Be on the lookout for Antwain Demar McDaniel, 19 years old. Antwain is approximately 5’8” 150lbs.
 
Antwain was last seen on Sunday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m. by a friend. Antwain was seen exiting his vehicle after an accident near the intersection of Durham St. Ext./Routh Rd., Burlington, N.C. He has not been seen or heard from since the accident and his condition is unknown.
 
Antwain was wearing a white jacket and white pants.
 
He is also entered in the National Crime Information Center as missing.

Graham, NC- On Friday, January 26, 2024, around 8:52 pm, officers responded to Auto Zone at 836 S. Main St. in reference to a robbery. The suspect entered the business and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken and the suspect fled the store.
 
The suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid-20s. He was wearing a blue puffy jacket with a hood, a black half-face mask, and dark clothing.
This incident is still under investigation.
 
Currently, this appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public.

On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 9:43 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 2300 block of Carter Rd., Green Level, N.C. On arrival, Deputies learned that a domestic disturbance had occurred resulting in injuries.

During the investigation, Deputies found reason to believe that Spencer Lee Grant, of the residence, assaulted an adult female and a minor child of the same residence.  

Mr. Gant was arrested on domestic violence charges and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, A Hillsborough officer was injured while investigating a larceny at a convenience store.
 
Officers were called to the convenience store on a report of a larceny at about 2:17 p.m. While investigating the larceny, they were alerted of a second larceny occurring within the building. They approached a black male subject wearing a green Columbia zip-up jacket, blue jeans, camouflage ball cap, and black shoes with white soles.
 
The subject physically assaulted the responding officer inside the store before fleeing to the GMC Terrain, which was backed into a parking space. The suspect entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle and subsequently assaulted the officer as the officer attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle. The suspect then put the vehicle into drive and dragged the officer causing physical injuries.
The suspect fled from the Sheetz at 1990 N.C. 86 S. in Hillsborough at about 2:26 p.m. heading toward Durham on Interstate 85 North. He was driving a red, second-generation GMC Terrain SLE with an after-market roof rack.
 
The officer was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

Burlington, NC | Tamile Ameer Cohn, the 24-year-old suspect in the murder of Davon Smith, turned himself in this afternoon. He was arrested for First Degree Murder and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center. He has received no bond.  

 
Arrested:
Tamile Cohn, a 24-year-old male from Mebane, is wanted for First Degree Murder.
 
On Wednesday, January 10, around 2:40 am, Burlington Officers responded to a shooting on James Drive. First responders, including Burlington Fire and Alamance County EMS, located a male victim with multiple gunshots in the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
 
At this time, it appears to have been a targeted incident. The department is in the process of gathering information and the investigation is ongoing.
 
The victim has been identified as Davon Darnell Smith. Smith, a 30-year-old male.  
 
On 01-12-2024, the Burlington Police Department and the Burlington Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant at the home of Cohn, who was not at the residence at the time. Currently, Tamile Cohn, a 24-year-old male from Mebane, is wanted for First Degree Murder.

Stolen Motor Vehicle

Burlington, NC | On the evening of January 8, 2024, around 10:20 pm, officers responded to the 800 block of High Street in reference to shots heard in the area. Officers spoke with a witness who advised they located their stolen motor vehicle in this area and were shot at by a male suspect while trying to recover their stolen vehicle. The witness reported after the shots were fired, two male suspects ran from the vehicle, wearing all-black clothing, toward Hillcrest Avenue. The witness was not harmed during the incident. 

Officers canvased the area and worked on locating the suspects. At this time, there is no description or photos of the suspects. Burlington Officers encourage anyone who may have seen anything in the area or has information to contact the Burlington Police Department.

Suspect in Multiple Robberies Arrested

Burlington, NC | Around 4:45pm on Friday, January 5, the Burlington Communications Center (911) dispatched officers to a motor vehicle theft and assault at an apartment complex off of Crouse Lane in Burlington. Officers arrived within two minutes of dispatch.  

  Officers located a 72-year-old male victim who had sustained minor injuries to his head. The victim had allowed the suspect inside his home, and after an argument, the suspect assaulted the victim with a cane, left the apartment, and stole the car.  

  Burlington Officers immediately worked on issuing a BOLO alert for the vehicle and a suspect description. Within 2 hours, the stolen vehicle was located by NC State Highway Patrol on NC 501 in Person County.  

  The suspect was identified as McColline Thorpe Jr., a 57-year-old male from Burlington. Thorpe has been charged with one felony count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.   

  In addition to the charges for this incident, Thorpe is a suspect in another robbery and assault that occurred on December 24, 2023 on Trollinger Avenue. He was charged with two felony counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, felony Assault inflicting Serious Injury, and felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle for that incident.  

  McColline Thorpe, Jr. is currently in custody in the Person County Jail. He has been given a $41,000 bond.  

  The Burlington Police Department would like to thank the NC State Highway Patrol for their quick coordination and assistance in the apprehension of Thorpe.

On Friday, December 1, 2023, Deputies received a report of larceny which occurred at Dollar General, 2523 NC 54 Hwy Graham, N.C. Store management reported that they were conducting an internal investigation of larceny by an employee.

Dollar General Loss Prevention advised Deputies that they identified employee Deborah Ann Hensley as the offender. As the investigation continued, a non-employee, identified as James Haskel Vandling, was believed to have assisted Ms. Hensley in two separate larcenies from the store. Both incidents occurred on the same day in mid-November approximately three hours apart. The total value of the stolen items was $600-$800.

After working with Dollar General Loss Prevention, ACSO Detectives arrested Mr. Vandling on December 20, 2023. Ms. Hensley was arrested on January 1, 2024.

Kidnaping at Sheetz

Burlington, NC | On Tuesday, December 25, around 11:30 pm the Burlington Communications Center (911) took a call from a man who reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of Sheetz (2628 Alamance Road) with his two children, ages 1 and 3, inside the car.
 
As Burlington Police Officers arrived, they determined the direction the vehicle traveled and quickly located the abandoned vehicle in a ditch in the 400 block of Trail Four, a little over one mile away from the Sheetz. Both children were unharmed and were reunited with their parent.
 
Police have obtained surveillance video and photos and are seeking assistance from the community. One of the suspects is described as a black male weighing approximately 150-170 pounds, last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and striped toboggan. Before the incident, the suspect was occupying a Silver Hyundai that investigators believe was involved as well.

Two Arrested After Stolen Construction Equipment Found By Patrol Deputies

On the evening of Monday, December 29, 2023, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies received information that a heavy piece of construction equipment, believed to have been stolen, was on a property in the 3400 blk. of Blue Moon Trail, Burlington, N.C. (northern Alamance County)

After receiving this information, Deputies developed probable cause and applied for a search warrant. The search warrant was granted and executed at the residence. Deputies found a stolen Kubota Skid Steer Loader along with a stolen moped. The Skid Steer Loader was entered as stolen in South Carolina.

Deputies requested a second search warrant whereby multiple firearms were found and seized from the residence.

Two occupants of the residence, Rodney Eugene Poe, Jr. and Robert Jeffrey McHenry, were arrested. Both suspects were transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

Multiple Thefts From Duke Energy Facility

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Duke Energy officials reported to the Sheriff’s Office that they believed someone was stealing rolls of copper wire. These larcenies occurred at a facility on Woody Dr. in Graham. Detectives learned that linemen, who are contractors with Duke Energy, store equipment and vehicles at the site.

During the investigation, ACSO Detectives developed a suspect by using security camera footage, sales records of copper sold at local scrapyards, and Crimestoppers tips. With this information, Detectives developed probable cause to charge Mr. Sam Fenton Wilson.

On Thursday, December 28, 2023, ACSO Detectives arrested Mr. Wilson at his residence. Mr. Wilson was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.

This investigation is ongoing with the possibility of additional charges.

Burlington, NC | On Friday, December 8, Detectives in the Special Victims Unit with the Burlington Police Department opened an investigation after receiving information indicating a school administrator, Daniel McInnis from Eastlawn Elementary, was allegedly involved in misconduct with a student on school property. 

As a result of the weeks-long investigation, Daniel McInnis has been charged with one count of statutory sex offense (felony). 

McInnis, a 43-year-old male from Burlington, was charged and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on Friday, December 29. He has received a $500,000.00 bond.  

The Alamance-Burlington School System was made aware that the administrator was under investigation and cooperated fully during the Burlington Police Department’s investigation.  

 

The department has not received additional reports of misconduct and continues the investigation. A photo is not available at this time.

Burlington, NC | In response to complaints, Burlington Police Officers observed criminal activity at 710 Staley Street during a community patrol. Patrol officers began an investigation and with the assistance of multiple patrol teams, the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team (ANET) and Burlington Regional SWAT Team, a search warrant was executed on December 22, 2023. Officers located over 44 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the home. 

Eric Wilbert Moye (DOB 4/24/1969), a 54-year-old male, was charged with Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Cocaine (felony), Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).  

Shuandreikas Booker (DOB 5/10/1988), a 35-year-old male, was charged with Trafficking Cocaine (felony), Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).  

Edward Moye (DOB 4/24/1969), a 54-year-old male, was charged with Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony).  

Eric Moye and Booker were transported to the Alamance County Detention Center. Edward Moye was already in custody. All received no bond for the charges.

Drug Arrest on Dailey St.

Burlington, NC | Burlington Police Department received several tips and complaints from Crimestoppers about criminal activity at 608 Dailey Street. As a result of the complaints, BPD worked with investigators from the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team (ANET). With the assistance of ANET and Burlington Regional SWAT Team, a search warrant was executed on December 20, 2023. Officers located cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. 

Vanessa Evans Johnson, a 70-year-old female from 608 Dailey Street, was charged with Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Cocaine (felony), Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor).  

Johnson was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and given a $20,000 bond.

Assault Investigation (Arrest Made)

Burlington, NC | Shortly before 10:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, Burlington Police responded to a call reporting a stabbing on the 600 block of Avon Avenue. As officers arrived, they located one victim with multiple stab wounds.
 
Through investigation, detectives learned that an altercation occurred in the front yard of the residence. During the disturbance, a suspect stabbed one victim, before leaving the scene.
 
The victim, 42-year-old male from Burlington, was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
 
Detectives are still investigating, however, at this time it appears to have been a targeted incident. The department is in the process of gathering information and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation is encouraged to share more information with the department.

Burlington, NC | Through the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Ricky Jerrell Pinchback as the suspect in the Avon Avenue stabbing incident. Pinchback, a 35-year-old male from Burlington, was arrested on December 14 and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury (felony). He was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and received no bond.
