In January 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the course of the investigation, Daniel Keith McClain was identified as a suspect.
On February 6, 2026, the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant, and as a result Daniel Keith McClain was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two (2) counts of Felony Second- Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. McClain was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Alamance County District Court for February 9, 2026.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Invictus Task Force representatives.

Attached is a still photograph of the suspect vehicle and suspect in this hit and run accident. The vehicle appears to be a silver or white 2016-2018 Nissan Altima SV.
The vehicle already had a burned out driver's side headlamp before the accident, but may have damage to the hood and grill of the vehicle sustained during the crash. This is still an active investigation and we are seeking the publics assistance in identifying this person.

On 02/08/2026 ,at approximately 06:36 am, Officers with the Graham Police Department responded to the intersection of E. Harden St. and Woody Dr. in reference to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived on scene they located a 31 year old male lying in the roadway with life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment.
The driver of the motor vehicle left the scene prior to officer arrival. There is no vehicle description or driver description at this time.
This remains an on-going investigation at this time. Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact Corporal J. 70 East is a Street Gang with ties to Alamance, Caswell, and Orange Counties. The gang is known to possess weapons, sell and distribute cocaine, marijuana, to include thc.
The investigation began in 2024 resulting in the non-fatal overdose of a student in an Alamance County School.
Multiple search warrants were served with six (6) suspects arrested.

Former Police Officer Charged With Felony Shooting Into An Occupied Dwelling
On Saturday, January 25, 2026, at 1:09 p.m., Deputies responded to the 5300 block of Gannet Ct., Snow Camp, N.C. in reference to damage to property. On arrival, it was discovered that a firearm projectile had been shot into a residence.
During the investigation, it was determined that a firearm was discharged from a neighboring residence in the 5400 block of Towhee Ct. Snow Camp, N.C. striking the home on Gannet Ct.
Deputies also learned of a domestic incident which occurred Saturday, January 25, 2026, at 1:20 a.m. at the Towhee Ct. residence.
Deputies determined that a firearm was discharged several times from the Towhee Ct. residence with a projectile hitting the residence on Gannet Ct. During this investigation, firearms along with additional evidence were seized from the residence.
The suspect was identified as Morgan Lynette Hill, a former Greensboro Police Officer, of Snow Camp, N.C. Ms. Hill was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
This is an active and ongoing case, and additional charges are possible. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Alamance County Sheriff's Office or 911 to speak with an Officer.
The Greensboro Police Department advised the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office that Ms. Hill’s employment was immediately terminated because of the incident.

Vehicle Pursuit/Death Investigation
On January 13, 2026, shortly after 2:30 p.m., the Burlington Police Department received information that a vehicle belonging to Thomas Mark Sharp had been spotted in the area of Springwood Park (a city of Burlington public park). At the time, Sharp was wanted by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office (NC) for attempted first-degree murder. Officers from the Burlington, Gibsonville, and Elon Police Departments responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspect.
Using a drone, officers spotted the suspect in a largely unoccupied area of the park near the soccer fields. Officers approached the suspect, who then attempted to flee in his vehicle by driving through the unoccupied soccer fields. Officers were able to disable the suspect vehicle during his attempt to flee.
At this point, attempts were made to negotiate with Sharp for his safe surrender. During the resulting standoff, Sharpe shot himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Springwood Park will remain closed while police complete a full investigation of the scene. Damage to the fields will then be assessed by Burlington Recreation & Parks staff. Springwood Park will re-open as soon as possible.

Burlington Man Charged With Multiple Felonies Following Three Months Long Narcotics Investigation
In the month of September 2025, information was received Arthur Lecose Burton was distributing narcotics in the city limits of Burlington, NC. During a thorough investigation by the Alamance County Strike Team and members of the Burlington Police Department Opioid Violent Crime Unit, probable cause was found for a search warrant to be granted pertaining to the investigation into Mr. Burton.
During the execution of the search warrant, a trafficking amount of fentanyl was located along with drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Burton was arrested Wednesday, January 7, 2026 and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for arrest along with additional charges from the investigation.

Stop Sign Violation Sends Three To Jail With Felony Charges
On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at approximately 2:17am, Deputies conducted a traffic stop for failure to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle pulled over at the intersection of N. Ireland St. and N. Ireland St. in Burlington, NC.
The vehicle was occupied by the driver and two passengers. The driver was identified as Deborah Lynn Hooker. The passengers were identified as Angela Mae Berry and Ernest Edward Hooker Jr.
During the stop, Deputies observed a white powdery substance consistent with cocaine prompting a probable cause search of the vehicle. The search revealed a white powdery substance in the seat occupied by Ms. Berry. Deputies also found a plastic bag containing two glass smoking pipes and several chunks of a white substance consistent with cocaine in the center console area of the vehicle. A digital scale was in a small compartment under the steering wheel. Another smoking device was in a bag in the back seat.
Mr. Hodge consented to a search of his person where Deputies located a glass smoking pipe in Mr. Hodge’s jacket and a white powdery substance inside of his hat.
Ms. Hooker, Ms. Berry and Mr. Hodge were arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
While at the jail, Detention Officers conducted a booking search where they located a small plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance consistent with cocaine on Mr. Hodge’s person.

Burlington, NC | On January 4, 2026, the Burlington Police Department served warrants for arrest at 2412 Maple Avenue, Burlington, North Carolina (Royal Inn and Suites). Brian Keith Smith, age 39, was wanted on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including two counts of felony second-degree kidnapping, two counts of assault on a female, misdemeanor injury to personal property, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, an order for arrest as a habitual felon, felony probation violation, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Smith was taken into custody without incident.

Burlington, NC | In May of 2015, the Burlington Police Department initiated an investigation into a reported sexual assault involving a juvenile victim. Due to the complexity of the investigation and the analysis of evidence, the investigation remained ongoing. As a result of the continued efforts, on December 30, 2025, Harry Ledale Teel, a 58-year-old male, was arrested and charged with one
count of Second-Degree Forceable Rape and one count of First-Degree Kidnapping.
Teel was transported to the Alamance County Detention Facility and is currently being held without bond.

Mother Of Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested For Felony Accessory After The Fact Of Armed Robbery
During the continuing investigation of an Armed Robbery which occurred on December 15, 2025, at 11:55 pm, near the intersection of N NC 49 HWY/McCray Rd. in northern Alamance County, Detective's received information that the victim’s keys, believed stolen by Lindsay Lee Massey, Jr., had been returned to the victim’s vehicle which was left roadside after the initial incident. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) photographs showed no keys present during the initial investigation. Detectives believed that someone returned the keys after the fact.
The information received led Detectives to Nina Snipes Womack, Mr. Massey's mother. Detectives received further information that Mr. Massey had taken the victim’s keys to his mother’s house after the robbery and that Ms. Womack allegedly returned the keys to the scene of the accident and placed them inconspicuously into the debris from the wreck.
As Detective's continued investigating the incident, it was discovered that Mr. Massey had also given his mother the firearm used during the robbery when the keys of the victim’s car were taken.
Detectives served warrants on Ms. Womack who was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
